Welcome to this episode
Date: March 28, 2025
Weather: Cloudy, 10°C/8°C, NW wind 3 mph
Route: At 4:00 PM, driving along E’zhen Lake, Wangyu River, and Caohu to enjoy the spring scenery. The total distance is about 17.9 km. Isn’t it pleasant to drive and film in such an environment with few cars, few people, and many curves.
Caohu: Located in northern Xiangcheng, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China, it was originally called Chao Lake and later renamed Li Lake. In the 3rd year of Zhou Yuanwang (473 BC), Fan Li, a minister of the Yue State, excavated it during the campaign against Wu. According to "Records of the Universe": "Fan Li dug this lake during the campaign against Wu, hence the name. The name 'Cao' may derive from its use for grain transport." Caohu averages 5.9 km in length and 1.5 km in width, with a flat lakebed, abundant aquatic resources, beautiful scenery, and vibrant vitality. It was once a major entry point for military grain transport, a hub connecting Taihu Lake and the Yangtze River, a必经之路 for the imperial kiln’s golden bricks heading north via the canal, and a place where resources and cultures converged.
